Dear Confirmation Families,

I hope you are having a good winter. As Lent begins, so begins the time of preparation for baptized members of the church to reaffirm their faith before the Bishop and the church family in the rite of Confirmation.

In the past, confirmands had to be 16 years old in order to be put forward for Confirmation in this diocese. Bishop Provenzano will confirm anyone over the age of 13 who has been appropriately prepared and is ready to become an adult member of the Church. The Bishop will now be doing confirmation in individual parishes, but the tradition of having confirmations in our Cathedral will also continue.

Because the bishop may not visit our parish for some time, Fr. Simon and I will present candidates for Confirmationat the Cathedral this Spring (date and time TBA).

If you would like to be put forward for Confirmation and would like to meet with the clergy for preparation, please be in touch with the church office (671-3226).

All confirmands should attend as many events in Lent as possible. There is a brief program each Wednesday evening in Lent which includes prayer and dinner beginning at 6p.m. on Feb 24th with our parish “passage to India” program, I hope to see you there and to talk more about Confirmation and what it might mean in your life of faith.

Below is the Sunday School Calendar for 2010 through Pentecost. We look forward to welcoming you to Sunday School at St. John’s of Lattingtown during the 10:30a.m. service! Arrive in church with your children and they will be invited to Sunday School after the Processional Hymn.
