In 2 to 3 weeks we shall have our very own huge classroom in the basement. It is being deep cleaned and decorated! We are making it cozy, bright and comfy. Stay Tuned!
We will continue meeting in Church and having Father Simon call the children and teachers to the Altar for a blessing before making our way to the classroom. **Till our classroom is ready--we will use the Parish Hall as our temporary home.
St. John's has come up with an all encompassing plan for your child's Christian formation which begins at age four and takes them through their Confirmation process at ages 12 to 13 and beyond. Their solid religious foundation will be built on the Bible. Your child will have listened to and digested the Old and New Testaments over the course of this program. It is a very simple but incredibly effective process where they are read the Bible for twenty minutes followed by a discussion and then they will improvise a play with costumes based on what they have been read.
Parallel to the Bible program we will also initiate a Pilgrim's Progress Program for the Children.
We will acquaint the children with the Anglican/Episcopal Church Liturgical Calendar by painting all the high lights of the Church Calendar on the wall of our new Classroom. They will paint their own Pilgrim passport which will be hung on the wall. We will discuss this journey with them in ways they can understand and retain. We began our pilgrimage program with our "ADVENTure to Bethlehem" during the Christmas Season. We will now work through Epiphany, Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday, Lent, Easter, Pentecost and important Feast and Saint's days like the Conversion of St. Paul and the Presentation of the Baby Jesus at the Temple.
*This "one room school house" model fits our present student demographics--as the Sunday School program grows we look forward to a time when we can bring Godly Play and other classes back.
