We would love to welcome you to St. John’s of Lattingtown this summer. We are a lively church community gifted with a beautiful building and stunning gardens by the Long Island Sound – a place of prayer and refreshment. We invite you to come and make St. John’s a part of summer refreshment and renewal. This is a place where all are truly welcome.

Summer Bible School (for adults and teens) is held every Wednesday morning throughout the Summer from 9:30-11:15. We meet at the church and then have our service and study group at the beach, weather permitting. Bring a beach chair and bible!

Parish Italian Evening - Wednesday June 23rd - beginning with Evening Prayer for St Peter and St Paul, the saints of Rome at 6:30pm in Church and then to share Italian food. Please call the office to make a reservation by June 20th. Young people are encouraged to attend a program for them on the Christian, Italian, and Rome themes. Father Simon and Father Michael would like to share their learning from their Continuing Education in Rome. Continuing Education and its funding is part of the contracts of our clergy and all the clergy.

Sunday 27th June : St Peter and St Paul Sunday (Pentecost 5)
Following the Parish Italian night we celebrate and think together about their life and witness and their contribution to the early church and since. We remember the ecumenical importance of Peter and Paul and think about recent ecumenical texts.

Wednesday June 23rd: Rome: A Clergy Retrospective. Stories, photos, food and reflections from a recent clergy ecumenical visit to Rome.
6:30p.m. Evening Prayer - 7:00p.m. Dinner and Program.

June 27th: Anniversary of Fr. Simon’s ordination to the Priesthood (1993)

June 28th: Anniversary of Fr. Simon’s ordination to the Diaconate (1992)

June 29th: Anniversary of Fr. Simon’s first Eucharist (1993)

A Summer Discussion at Lattingtown on the Dalai Lama's recent important article in the New York Times on Many faiths, One Truth on July 11th at 9am in the Rector’s Office/Guild room. Bring a relative or friend or anyone who is interested in the vital and crucial theme of inter faith dialogue.

Summer Reading Opportunity: Praying Our Days by Bishop Frank T. Griswold, Former Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church.

The Rev. Simon Foster will be leading discussions about this book over the summer and during bible study. Copies can be ordered through the office.

Parish Library Open: Summer is a wonderful time to dig into a good book. Why not come and visit our beautiful parish library for inspiration. Call Karin, our parish administrator and let her know you are coming. Open Monday-Thursday 9-3.

Upcoming Summer Events and Dates:

Sunday June 6th: Theme: The Eucharist and Christian Life. Celebration of Corpus Christi with Baptism at 10a.m.

Sunday June 13th: Launch of Parish 150th Anniversary DVD 11:15 in the Parish Hall. Refreshments provided!

June 19th: Confirmation at Cathedral of the Incarnation Garden City 2p.m.

Sunday August 15th : This is the main date set aside in the Episcopal Church along with many other Christians for celebrating Mary, the Mother of Jesus. We will do so in our parish that day too not least by a sermon from the Rector on Mary : Grace and Hope in Christ

Sunday School resumes on September 12th. Children of all ages are welcome in church over the Summer. A nursery is available for young children during the 10a.m. service. Older children and teens are encouraged to serve as acolytes and readers over the summer. Please call the office or Fr. Michael to sign up!
