Martin Luther King March

Michael+ marched on Martin Luther King Day with local clergy, elected officials, educators, and others in the streets of Glen Cove to remind the community that the work begun by MLK is far from over and is very much a part of what we are called to do as Christians today.

An MLK celebration was then held at Glen Cove Middle School. Michael+ gave the invocation and there we speeches by Tuskegee airmen and others. Parishioner Victoria Crosby was involved in the event and read an original poem. Dancers, musicians and others from the local community all participated in what was an inspiring and thought provoking program.

For information about how to participate in diocesan Racial Awareness Training or to find out about other demonstrations for equality and justice in the area, contact Michael+ in the parish office.
