Saint John's of Lattingtown

Chapel for Devotion and Prayer

The Aumbry

JP Morgan renovations and additions gave St John’s a beautiful carved AUMBRY where the Blessed Sacrament is kept marked by a white Perpetual Light given by parishioners more recently. Here all are encouraged to come and pray. Church is open Monday thru Thursday 9 thru 3 as well as on a Sunday of course as well as at other times.

The Blessed Sacrament is reserved in the Church for people to come and be silent and alone with Christ truly present here. Intercession cards are provided ; please complete so we can pray for you and yours. This is a special and particular place to honor worship and adore Christ and to share our hopes and joys, challenges and struggles as well as those of others.

Professor John Macquarrie said that the place of Reservation is a sign that the time of consecration at every Eucharist is suspended and allowed to continue perpetually. Jesus said “This is My Body for YOU”.

The Perpetual Light reminds us that Jesus is REALLY AND TRULY PRESENT 24/7, the Good Shepherd always with His people.

Intercession ministry is taken very seriously here. Like a heart beat the Prayer of the Church goes on before the Blessed Sacrament

Words of a hymn:

Tantum Ergo

Therefore we before Him bending

This great Sacrament revere

Types and Shadows have their ending

For the newer rite is here

Faith our outward sense befriending

Makes our inward vision clear
